MY JOURNEY

Yoga first started for me 12 years ago as a way of stretching out those muscles from all the physical exercise I was doing throughout the week. Some months after starting Yoga I came to realise that Yoga wasn’t just about stretching, strengthening and toning, it was a beautiful practise working with breath and awareness of oneself, this is when I fell in love with Yoga and the feeling after practising.

As the years went by I became aware of how beneficial it was for me not only during practise but for coping with the crazy, busy life of modern day. It opened a door for me to unplug and from the past or the future and focus for on what was going on in my body and life right now. It was at this point that I decided to delve further into the spiritual aspects and to generally learn more about this ancient practise. This is where my journey truly began.

I have been truly blessed thus far in my journey to have found some amazing teachers to guide me along the way, and to be able to explore lots of different aspects of the physical body, breath, and mind. Attending and qualifying in many courses to progress with my own practise and knowledge of how it all works.

Thai Yoga Massage

Whilst on a Yoga retreat I experience my first Thai Yoga Massage, I was totally overwhelmed with how I felt both during and after the massage. I was quite emotional after the massage and me being me needed to find out more! After many months of research I was inspired to enquire into courses to study this ancient healing therapy as ways to expand my skillset and professional knowledge and of course most importantly, I wanted to be able to share this experience with others.

And so my Thai Yoga Massage journey began. Starting with a 3 day introductory course in August 2018, I began practising on family and friends.

I then went on to attend a Level One, 7 day Foundation Course in Portugal with Katrin Heuser at the Hadadi School of Thai Yoga Massage, completing in March 2019.

I continued to practise with different individuals all with different needs, many kind people offering to help me to connect and learn. In order to become a qualified Thai Yoga Practitioner I went on to complete Level 2 with Kira Balaskas at The School of Thai Yoga Massage in London, completing many case studies, theory, and practical exam, passing in October 2019.

I also have a Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology as this essential to be able to practise.  I will continue to learn, and study as I feel the more knowledge and experience I have the better a practitioner I will become and the more I can share this with you.

The most important part of giving a Thai Yoga Massage is the practitioners intention, it is important it is given with metta (loving kindness), with awareness and presence. I feel that all my other trainings in Meditation (always an on going battle for me), Tibetan Healing, Reiki, Yoga, Chakras has enabled me to just be there above all else without judgement and with empathy, and to connect with my client and be present, . I can’t tell you how happy I feel just to be able to share this and to find a path to walk on, and whilst getting here I have been so lucky to meet such wonderful teachers, and friends throughout. I truly have been blessed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Thai Yoga Massage ?

Thai Yoga Massage, also known as Nuad Bo-Rarn, is a traditional healing modality that originated in Thailand over 2,500 years ago. It is a unique and holistic form of bodywork that combines acupressure, energy work, and yoga-like stretching techniques.

During a Thai Yoga Massage session, the recipient lies comfortably on a mat on the floor, while the therapist uses their hands, elbows, knees, and feet to apply pressure along the body's energy lines and specific points. The therapist uses rhythmic movements and gentle stretches to release tension, increase flexibility, and restore balance in the body.

The massage follows a systematic approach, starting from the feet and gradually working up to the head. The therapist applies pressure and uses stretching movements to help release muscle tension and energy blockages, allowing the recipient to experience a deep sense of relaxation and rejuvenation.

Thai Yoga Massage is often described as a dynamic meditation, as it requires the therapist to be fully present and connected with the recipient's body and energy. The massage is performed with mindfulness, promoting a state of harmony and balance between the body, mind, and spirit.

The benefits of Thai Yoga Massage are numerous. It helps to reduce stress, relieve muscular tension and pain, improve flexibility and range of motion, enhance energy flow, promote circulation, and support emotional well-being. It is a deeply therapeutic and rejuvenating experience that aims to restore vitality and promote overall wellness.

Whether you seek relaxation, relief from specific discomfort, or a way to enhance your overall well-being, Thai Yoga Massage offers a holistic approach to healing and rejuvenation.

What are the benefits of Thai Yoga Massage ?

Thai Yoga Massage offers a wide range of benefits for both the body and mind. Here are some of the key advantages you can experience through this ancient healing practice:

  1. Stress Relief: Thai Yoga Massage helps to reduce stress levels by promoting deep relaxation and releasing tension from the body. The rhythmic movements and gentle stretching techniques induce a state of calm, allowing you to unwind and let go of everyday worries.

  2. Improved Flexibility: Through the assisted yoga-like stretches incorporated in Thai Yoga Massage, your muscles and joints are gently stretched and mobilized. This helps to increase flexibility and range of motion, making it beneficial for athletes, dancers, and individuals looking to enhance their physical performance.

  3. Pain and Tension Relief: The combination of acupressure, deep tissue massage, and stretching in Thai Yoga Massage can alleviate muscular tension, knots, and areas of discomfort. By applying targeted pressure along energy lines, the therapist helps to release blockages and restore the flow of energy, reducing pain and promoting healing.

  4. Enhanced Energy Flow: Thai Yoga Massage works with the body's energy lines, known as Sen lines in Thai tradition. By clearing blockages and stimulating the energy flow, it revitalizes the body and enhances overall energy levels. This can leave you feeling more balanced, rejuvenated, and revitalized.

  5. Improved Circulation: The combination of gentle pressure and stretching movements in Thai Yoga Massage can improve blood and lymphatic circulation. This helps to flush out toxins from the body, nourish the tissues, and promote the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to cells, aiding in overall detoxification and improved health.

  6. Emotional Well-being: Thai Yoga Massage not only addresses the physical body but also nurtures emotional well-being. The deep relaxation and the release of tension can have a positive impact on your mood, reducing anxiety, and promoting a sense of tranquility and inner peace.

  7. Increased Mindfulness: During a Thai Yoga Massage session, you are encouraged to focus on your breath and be fully present in the moment. This mindfulness practice can help calm the mind, reduce mental chatter, and promote a sense of inner clarity and awareness.

  8. Improved Sleep: Many individuals experience improved sleep quality after receiving Thai Yoga Massage. The deep relaxation and stress reduction effects can help regulate sleep patterns and promote a more restful and rejuvenating sleep.

It's important to note that the benefits of Thai Yoga Massage may vary for each individual. Regular sessions can provide cumulative effects, leading to long-term improvements in overall well-being.
